South Africa: Gold Price, Norilsk's Exit Buoy Gold Fields
THE expected improvement in Gold Fields' profit margins from the rising gold price, together with the increased liquidity in its shares after Norilsk Nickel sold its 20% stake, have made the shares a good buy, up to R165, according to a Merrill Lynch research report.

Commodities: Oil's price edges up on hopes for unflagging demand
Crude oil prices rose Thursday after the United States reported a decline in an index of leading economic indicators, reducing the chance that the Federal Reserve would increase interest rates that could curb demand.
